Word jungle

It's not easy to juggle many things at the same time, and still create room for more things to come! Haven't updated in quite a while, but have certainly not lost the inspiration to write and share:) It's probably a little late for new year resolutions but something has definitely made the rest of the year look a little more interesting albeit challenging. Dearest Isaac has been diagnosed with dyslexia, and is struggling with his school work and new school. Have agreed to help out (God give me wisdom and strength!)- have to see what I can help with though. It's not been easy thus far, but children do surprise you in ways that are not possible:)

"Jiejie,what's an ocean?"
"Do you know what's sea? like Changi beach, Pasir Ris beach..?"
"I've been been to Batam Beach!" His hand shot up like a rocket, haha.
"Ahhh well, an ocean is many, many, many times BIGGER than the sea!" I tried waving my arms in gigantic motions, gesturing that it is by far larger, in huge proportions. (How else do you explain anyway?)
"Ohhh...Jiejie!! Is it bigger than the sky?"

-stumped- (crap. On 2nd thought, scientifically speaking, the cosmos is infinite with gazabillions of galaxies and far flung stars, so no, the "sky" is still bigger than the oceans-but try explaining astrophysics to a 6 yo? )

Other fun stuff include waddling around my room like ducks, mooing like a cow and explaining what icicles are, that penguins live in the south pole. It's difficult to explain some concepts using the Singapore context.

Otherwise, am going to plan for more interesting lessons ahead that involve word searches, grocery shopping, playground activities, spelling. It's a word jungle out there, and we're gonna make a treehouse!
