Overlapping parallels
I realised I haven't written in the longest time-and now my fingers are itching! New Zealand has been more than awesome, the 16 days spent exploring the north and south islands were unforgettable. Have done some crazy things that I didn't even know I had the guts to do, hahaha. It felt like I was on a national geographical trip, exploring exotic looking places and strange looking plants. My highlights? Defintely the last few days I think-the glacier hike and lake tekapo. It was literally a dream come true to go for the glacier hike, putting the crampons on and walking on ice, squeezing through amazing blue ice caves... I'd definitely go for it again! Then again, maybe different glacier, different place.
Lake Tekapo was ...breathtaking. I'd never seen a lake so blue, so serene and tranquil. Glacier lakes are turquoise, light blue in colour because of the minerals in the glacier water. Pristine and very very beautiful. Had a nice horse trek up the mountain taking the pine forest trail (had a greedy horse who loved to eat flowers, felt as if I was gonna fall off my horse!) And the star gazing at night, siiigh. It was freeeezing cold (though it was summer! One can only imagine how cold it is like in winter.brr) but thank God the skies were clear and we could see the stars in the Southern hemisphere up close, the Southern cross, the hunter, mars and even Saturn with its rings! And as I stood on the mountain top, head thrown back soaking in the beauty of these heavenly bodies, I felt so...small and humbled. There are as many stars in the universe as there are grains of sand on our planet, which makes it inumerable. I cannot even begin to imagine nor dare to, how big God is. Just, beautiful.
Some other things were pretty insane as well, and tt includes skydiving at 12,000 feet. (i must be outta my mind!) But it was worth it, jumping outta the plane trusting my life with a complete stranger. Well, the complete stranger had abt 4000 jumps so that was pretty much alright;) ahhhh, freefall was GREAT! Everyone shld do a skydive once in their lifetime. Might consider a bungee now too, haha. I'll see if I have the guts. And yes! Kayaking in the open see to see fur seals-ahhh! They're so cute!
And, beautiful strangers. Travel wouldn't be complete without that incidental coincidence of conversation and brief exchange of words:)
So right now I'm in China, where I've spent the last month or so in, and am holding a grudge with the plane ride that I'm taking in abt 24 hrs, because I don't wanna go back to study just yet! Here I am, happily accustomed to my wonderful family time and then I have to get back to school, sigh. CNY here has been really interesting and it went down to freezing 5 degrees, which I wasn't prepared for. Well, they didn't have this kinda drastic weather change in the past 10 yrs! But school is gonna have its exciting moments, I wonder what the next semester will be like. There's been a lot of changes in these 2 yrs I think, like graduating last yr from poly, gg on to uni and studies abroad, adapting to a new and diff culture. And this yr, more adaptation, graduating again, starting work, which will be another milestone in life. But I guess things move along, and we're pulled into it like an unexplainable centrifugal force, but never forgetting that God is there, and leading the way:)
I wonder what this year is going to be like.
