Port Stephens-a beautiful gem

I truly had a most wonderful time at Port Stephens! I think it's one of the most beautiful places in the world i've been to so far, even the pictures below do not do the place justice! Every single shot seems like a pull-out ad from a travel magazine. It felt like miles away to nowhere, and nothing but the beautiful surf that hugs the shoreline, the cry of seagulls in the air... The waters are so clear that when I stand at the clifftop, I can see the different gradients of blue of the Pacific, and the rocks in the ocean. Very interesting to see surfers surfing with the boards, people parasailing. And because it's a weekday that we went (plus given the place is not very accessible by public transport), it was quiet and peaceful, nothing of the touristy sort. I loved every single moment of it:)

Halfway of Tomaree Lookout-

During the climb, we saw a kangaroo bounce down the hill right in front of us!

What a pleasant surprise. Whales migrate from the South in the July to October period, and is a common sighting in the area. See the sandbar in the pic? During low tides, you can walk across to visit the lighthouse on the other island!

Picnic at sunset, at Sunset Bay- We rushed from one end of the island to the other, just to catch the amazing sunset there. Good thing that the sun is setting later, about 7.30pm so we could catch this! Had a fish and chips picnic, watching the sun dip low on the horizon. I love pelicans!

Sandboarding at the sand dunes!
The wind at the top of the dunes was so strong, it hurts to get blown by the sand. I felt so freshly 'exfoliated' after that! Really fun to sandboard down the really high dunes. Deja vu of the Vietnam dunes:)

Dolphin watching cruise

Took a cruise to watch bottlenose dolphins in their natural habitat after lunch. Waters were really clear and beautiful. Thank God for the amazing weather! Sun is very strong in Australia though, can easily be roasted to crisp. Haha! I took the boomnet on the way back. Essentially, they lower a net at the back of the boat and you can just crawl on top of the net, while the boat speeds all the way back. Very fun! What a great experience!!:)
