Thanksgivings

Our lecturers and us!

Thank God for seeing us through the biggest project that we had for this semester! It was an interesting module-we had to find a gap in the community and come up with a sustainable project to fill in that gap. Our project was a tobacco cessation programme for pregnant Aboriginal mothers. Our greatest challenge was...culture! It wasn't easy to find an Aboriginal community to work with, because we didn't have any networks here and just basically, didn't know any clinicians or organisations. One important lesson learnt was that we had to work alongside with the Aboriginal community, understanding the needs of their specific community, and to listen to them. We had so many bumps along way, and we constantly prayed for our project, and God is truly gracious and blessed us with a lot of key personnel along the way. Really very amazing:) Our programme is currently being implemented in a hospital, and the programme has the potential to be implemented across different Aboriginal communties in Australia, so exciting! Have learnt so much through this process, lots of thanksgivings:)
