Food exploration
You know when you go shopping in Aus, there's a whole lotta stuff tt you haven't tried. And what better time than to explore? Haha, just look out for the reduced to clear/special items and try cooking with them. I must admit I'm having a lotta fun. All one needs is a penchant for gastronomical adventure! And a bit of bravery. Why? Because when you look at that odd shaped fruit/veg thinking no way am I gonna eat tt man, you're nvr gonna try it. Let's see what weird stuff I bought recently...
1) Chokos!

It's found in a lotta places in the world, but it originated from Mexico, and was long part of the Aztecs diet. Anyway, a google search rendered that it's a highly versatile fruit, it's part of the gourd family, and one can make it into stir fries, casseroles, and even-pie fillings-! I did up a stir-fry the other day, and it tasted really good. Tinge of sweetness, i like!
2) Brussel sprouts
Ahah! You know the little round stuff tt looks like cabbages? I've only saw them before, even in Singapore, but have never bought them before. They were on sale, so... hahaha. It's fun to buy things you don't know, do a quick recipe search on google and see what you can find. And the "commentaries" on the fruit/veg. So interesting. Anyway, the picture above shows creamy bacon with brussel sprouts. That was kinda easy to make, basically you just have to halve the brussels, chuck them into a pot of boiling water (boil the veg), drain, fry bacon and garlic, throw your boiled brussels in, add cream! tada! oh, and of cos black pepper and salt to taste, and choice of your herbs. I added oregano in mine, that was the only thing we had at home. And I substituted ham for some hungarian salami. It was good! Had the most "ang moh" meal ever in the house, it was complete with beef schnitzel and rissoles, yum:)
The next thing i feel like buying... is an artichoke;)
