Disabled does not mean un-able

How do you view disability?

When you see a person in a wheelchair, do you first notice the wheelchair, or do you first notice the person?

What runs through your mind? Do you feel sorry for the person?

Do you avert your gaze away from them, or do you stare?

Think about it.

Let's say a person has lost his leg in a car accident and he sits in a wheelchair. Is he any less of the man that he used to be? Is he any less of a person? If no, then what? What is this difference in attitude that so many pple show to those who are disabled as compared to those who are not? Does that lost limb cripple his personality? If no, then what?

A lot of pple who are disabled are more abled than what most people think.

And a lot stronger.

To change the mentality of society takes a long time. I just hope this post makes you think twice the next time you see a disabled person!
